Shivarathiri - It is celebrated on the 6th Night of dark Phalgun (Feb or March). On the auspicious day devotees observe fast and keep vigil are night. On this day Alaghu Nadhuthal is performed in our neighbour temple of Arulmigu Angala Parameshwari. That is God’s weapon of Sulayutham is placed on needle and it stay there for 2 to 3 minutes without any support. Special pooja is performed throughout the night and large number of devotees spend the night singing hymns and devotional songs.
Panguni Uththiram - It is an important Tamil Festival observed in the Tamil month of Panguni (March – April) Panguni Uththiram celebrates the wedding of important deities in the Hindu religion. The importance of Panguni Uttiram days is that the Uththiram Nakshathiram (Star) coincides with full moon day (Poornima) is the day when most divine weddings had taken place. It is widely belived that Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvathi, Lord Muruga married Devasena and Lord Rama married Sita on this day.
On the day in our temple Pongal is made in front of the God and afford to god as prasatham. After special pooja the Prasadham is distributed to all.
ANNUAL FESTIVAL: The Committee would decide on when the Annual Mass Convention (Kovil Kodai) to be conducted.
Generally the mass convention assembly of large number of family members during July 3rd week (Aadi month 3rd Friday) for a period of 2 to 3 days.
The commencement of the festival will be start with the hosting of flag and tying the “Ksappu”. During this annual gathering, a large number of Goats and Chicken are sacrified for Lord Karuppasamy. He is also offered Beedies and alcohol during the poojas / festivals.
