Worship

Karuppasamy worship is a very ancient ancestral clean based worship system. The worship pattern is non vedic agamic through fold tales. Folk songs and Folk arts (Villu Pattu, Karagam, Koothu etc). The local priests might offer flowers or Veeputhi (Holy Ash) to the Worshippers. Various persons within the clean systems are identified to play to the role of oracle and they undertake Vradham and maintain charity and purity during the period of Vradham. During the Festivals, Oracles get into trance state (Saami Arul) and believer counseling messages to the group assembled there without bias. The normal problems addressed are family problem, financial troubles and local community and social issues for resolving within the community group.

Tradition

God Karuppasamy is believed to protect the poor and ensure justice and self disciple among the believers. It is believed to protect the poor, and ensure justice and self disciple among the believers. It is believed that wherever crime arises, he comes riding in a white horse to save the poor and the needy and to establish justice. It is also believed that he is fierce warrior who never forgives those who sinned or those who commit crimes. It is believed that he shoes away all the evils and devils from entering in village.

Diety

Karuppasamy is worshipped as “ Pathinettampadi Karuppu.” He is considered as the guardian deity of most of the famous temple like Sabarimalai, Palani, Azaghar Kovil etc., Karuppasamy have weapon of Aruval, Bow, Arrow, Swords, Knives alongside with him. Animals, often signifying his pets—a dog (Vettai Nai or Hunting Dog), a lion and his ride the white horse are also found.
